Our Local League (LWVMA)

LWVMA presents educational forums for the general public, studies and takes action on local issues, sponsors and moderates local candidate forums, registers voters, observes local government meetings, and participates in League consensus on critical issues that affect every one of us.

LWVMA – Our Local Positions

Your local Moorestown Area League has studied and taken action on the following positions. These positions are arrived at by consensus among our members at the annual Program Planning meeting.

  • Support expanded use of Moorestown school facilities and more adult and community focused programs. Expanded use of school facilities should provide space for community sponsored programs, if needed. The expanded programs should be supplementary and complementary to existing community programs. The Board of Education should consider community needs in addition to the public education program in the formation of new building plans.
  • Support for school age child care in Moorestown, provided by the Board of Education, preferably in the school which the child attends. Support for care which is affordable, self-supporting, well supervised and monitored by an advisory board.
  • Support the need for more diverse housing in Moorestown through support of appropriate governmental policies and community education.
  • Support adequate school facilities in Moorestown.
  • Support township policies which promote planning for the environment of Moorestown.
  • Encourage the clustering of dwellings in units in addition to single family houses on individual lots, given specific conditions.
  • Support historic/scenic preservation.
